Where does cashmere come from?

Posted by Kashme Mongolian Cashmere on

Each spring, goats in Mongolia enjoy their annual spa day when they are gently combed to shed their winter fur – cashmere. This practice is crucial for their well-being, especially after enduring a chilly winter.

Think about not shedding your winter coat in the scorching summer – it would be uncomfortable, right? Well, goats experience a similar discomfort if their cashmere is left uncombed. During winter, goats grow thicker coats to stay warm, but as spring arrives, they naturally shed this excess fur. If left uncombed, the cashmere hangs around until autumn, becoming uncomfortably warm and susceptible to mite damage during the summer.

Combing the goats during this seasonal transition is more than a grooming ritual; it's a necessity for their comfort and health. It involves removing loose, dead hair, promoting a healthier coat, and preventing overheating, fatigue, and the risk of diseases during the warmer months. This process also has the added benefit of stimulating blood circulation to the goats' skin – like a relaxing massage with a comb!

Our cashmere products embody this care for the goats. They are crafted from the cashmere combed from goats freely grazing in Mongolia's expansive landscapes, ensuring that you can wear them with confidence, free from worries, and with a sense of satisfaction and pride.
